Makeup routines

Back to uni means back to normality and routine for me, despite my first day of lectures being cancelled. I thought I’d begin getting back into my routine by starting with what that entails – my makeup.

Now this is by no means how I do my makeup all the time, this is just my casual everyday kind of thing.

I begin, after prepping (washing, toner, moisturiser etc.) with some prepping spray to help my makeup stay on – I usually just spray this onto my face or application brush. (I use the Pro Prime by Make Up Revolution). I follow this, whilst my face/brush is still damp, with my foundation. At the moment I’m using the Clinique Beyond Perfecting and the Illamasqua Skin Base Foundation (not at the same time). Both of these are fairly heavy coverage, but neither have given me any problems so far.

My next step is to cover any blemishes or dark circles. I use Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer, which is the best concealer I have used in a long time. I follow this with my powders. I use the Rimmel Stay Matt Powder in Translucent to set my makeup in place and make me look less shiny. I follow this with my Mac blusher in Gentle, which although I try to buy cruelty free products, such as illamasqua, I have had for around 3 years and will find a suitable replacement once it has ran out. I love the Illamasqua Beyond Powder highlighter in OMG to add a bit of colour and shine to my face. To add some more colour to my face I use the Body Shop bronzer in dark golden matte.

So after my face I move onto my eyes. I begin by using a base eye shadow such as an orange or brown – something neutral. My favourites are the Illamasqua Powder eye shadow in Vapour, kiko in 219 Flamingo Pink and Mac in Antiqued as I think they give great colour. To top these off I like to use my Zoeva Opulence palett at the moment as I think it has some amazing colours that look good on a day to day basis.

My final step is mascara and eyebrows. I like to use the Soap and Glory Thick and Fast mascara as I think it works really well without looking too clumpy, and I use the Benefit They’re Real mascara to add a little more volume. For my eyebrows I use either the Soap and Glory Archery wand which has a wax like pencil on one side and a setting gel on the other. Or the Illamasqua Brow Gel in Strike which is amazing, and is my new favourite after previously using the Anastasia Beverly Hills dip brow.

I know this isn’t too detailed but i would be here for hours if that was the case. I hope it gives you an idea of some new products to try perhaps!
